IIS7 SSL error “A specified logon session…”

Whilst installing Veeam B&R Enterprise v9 recently, we had an odd error on install whilst trying to use one of our 3rd party certs ( happily already in use on the Gateway ) with just an error of “Invalid Certificate” so to get the install going, we went with a self signed cert and tackle that SSL issue in IIS.

Once installed, hopped onto the IIS7 console to change the site bindings for SSL and were then presented with “A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated”  hmm…

Easy fix, re-import the cert into IIS from the PFX file but make sure “alow this cert to be exported” is ticked.

You can then succesfully change the SSL bindings on “VeeamBackup” and “VeeamCloudConnectPortal” virtual directories to the 3rd party cert.

Simples!
